Frequently Asked Questions
Which risks are specifically covered under the physical damage insurance for credit cards?

The physical damage insurance for credit cards covers cases such as card breakage, bending, damage, and loss. With this insurance, if the card becomes physically unusable or is lost, the bank provides a new card free of charge. This ensures that customers can continue using their card without incurring additional expenses or losing time.

How can I apply to activate the physical damage insurance for credit cards?

To activate the physical damage insurance for credit cards, you can submit a request through the Birbank platform via the mobile app or the website. The cardholder simply enters the relevant insurance section, confirms the required steps to activate the service, and the process is completed within a few minutes. Once activated, the insurance becomes effective immediately, granting the customer the right to a free card replacement in cases of damage or loss.

How many free card replacements are available while the insurance is active?

While the insurance is valid, one free card replacement is provided if the card is physically damaged or lost. This right applies only during the insurance period and only when an actual insured event occurs.

Under what circumstances does the insurance become invalid or get terminated by the bank?

The insurance may become invalid or be terminated by the bank in the following cases: expiration of the insurance period, failure of the customer to fulfill service obligations, provision of false information, or intentional creation of an insured event. Additionally, if the card is canceled or the account is closed, the insurance automatically terminates. In such cases, the customer loses the right to free card replacement.

What is the insurance fee and how long is it valid?

The insurance fee depends on the selected tariff and the terms updated by the bank; however, the service is typically provided on an annual basis and remains valid for one year from the moment it is activated. During this period, the customer is entitled to a free replacement in cases of physical damage or loss of the card. When the insurance period expires, it must be reactivated for continued coverage.

What documents must be submitted to the bank when an insured event occurs?

In the event of an insured incident, the bank generally does not require additional official documents; it is sufficient to report the physical damage or loss of the card. After the customer registers the incident through Birbank or by visiting a bank branch, the card replacement process begins. If necessary, the bank may request additional information solely to verify the incident.

Is this insurance only for credit cards, or does it apply to other types of cards as well?

This service is specifically designed for credit cards and provides coverage in cases of physical damage or loss. It does not automatically apply to other card types such as debit or prepaid cards. If the bank offers a similar insurance service for those cards, it must be activated separately.

Does damage to a card at an ATM or the card being “captured” by the machine qualify as an insured event?

Yes, damage occurring at an ATM—such as the card becoming unreadable or being captured by the machine—may be considered an insured event. In such cases, since the card becomes physically unusable, the customer is entitled to a free card replacement under the insurance. Reporting the incident via Birbank or by contacting the bank is sufficient.

Is the renewal of a card free of charge when its regular validity period expires, if the insurance is active?

No, the planned renewal of a card at the end of its regular validity period is not considered an insured event and therefore does not qualify as a free replacement under the insurance. The insurance covers only unexpected situations such as physical damage or loss of the card. Card expiration is part of the standard renewal process and is carried out in accordance with the bank’s general service terms.

Can the insurance service be activated online?

Yes, the insurance service can be fully activated online. By accessing the relevant insurance section through the Birbank mobile application or the official website, you can activate the service in just a few clicks. The process is fast and requires no branch visit; once activation is complete, the insurance becomes effective immediately.

If I replace my card during the insurance period, will the insurance automatically transfer to the new card?

Yes, if the card is replaced or renewed during the insurance period, the insurance automatically transfers to the new card. This is because the insurance coverage is linked to the cardholder’s account rather than the specific card number. Therefore, as long as the insurance period remains valid, no additional activation is required, and the protection continues uninterrupted.

Can the use of my card be restricted while the insurance is active?

No, the activation of the insurance does not impose any restrictions on the use of your card. The insurance is an additional service that provides protection only in cases of physical damage or loss and does not affect the card’s daily functions such as payments, cash withdrawals, or other transactions. The card remains fully operational as before.
